In the Australian oceans we have many thousands of unique species. Over 85% of the sea creatures in Australia's southern waters are found nowhere else in the world. Australia has the largest populations of endangered marine life including (turtles, dugongs, giant clams, corals etc)

Australia's Coastline by sea is about 20,000 Klms
If you walked around Australia on the beaches and cliffs it would be around 130,000 Klms.

Aboriginals have been in Australia for over 40,000 years. There are over 160 different languages recognized in Australia that are the local dialects of the Aboriginals.

In the world 7000 languages are recognized, every two weeks a language disappears often because its last elderly speaker has died.

The local Whitsunday Ngaro Aboriginals had their own language, which was different to the local mainland aboriginals.

The Australian Kangaroo is unique to Australia and not found anywhere else in the world, along with the wombat, echidna, platypus, koala, emu and many more.

Captain Cook was the person recognized for discovering Australia he passed through the Whitsunday's in 1770 on his ship the Endeavour.
The township of 1770 was named after this first visit.
